Underinsurance is a widespread problem, and can leave business owners open to potentially devastating consequences if they do not have accurate sums insured. It has been estimated that as many as half of all properties are being underinsured, with a study by Norwich Union revealing that underinsurance totalled £130m on a sample of just 47 cases. If a building itself is underinsured, it is possible that contents could equally be undervalued, thus compounding the potential impact on the business
