Brokers and legal firms have both made a call for transparency following the fall out from the Marsh/Spitzer case.

Ian Richens, MD of Oxfordshire-based broking firm F M Green, pointed out that although the UK insurance market does not have the same scale of problem as in the US it had opened up a can of worms in terms of volume based commission.

"The only problem that I see is where a broker is given 15 points basic commission but then they may also be given volume override at the end of the year
