Brokers distribution for niche lines “significant”

Research shows niche lines more profitable than mainstream lines with brokers bringing in up to 90% of new sales.

Brokers win between 39% and 90% of new business in niche lines of insurance according to research by consultancy Finnaccord.

These niche lines also offer better growth prospects than mainstream motor, household and commercial lines, with intermediary distribution and affinity schemes a "key to success" according to the consultancy.

The research covers 20 different niche insurance products ranging from motor cycle insurance to boat, yacht and pleasure craft cover, and from landlord rent guarantee
