Complaints about general insurance increase

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has published the aggregate complaints figures for the first half of 2011.

The data shows that complaints concerning general insurance intermediaries have increased – firms dealt with 239,208 complaints this year, compared with 136,015 in the first half of 2010.

General insurance intermediaries dealt with 89% of complaints within 8 weeks, which compares favourably with the mortgage business which dealt with 75% of complaints within the same timeframe.

In the general insurance and pure protection sector, 20% of complaints concerned general admin and customer service

FCA warns on Tempcover clone
