Right rate for the job.

Insurers have long been concerned about the costs and reliability of contractors. Mike Oastler asks whether repair networks are the answer.

Making a household insurance claim can be a very stressful time for a
policyholder. A fire, flood or storm can turn the insured's life upside
down, and the problem can be compounded by the process of trying to find
reliable contractors to repair the damage.

For insurers, the major issue has been the high costs of some contractors,
and so in order to ease the pain for both themselves and the
policyholders, most companies have invested in repair networks.
