Commercial brokers are in a privileged position in the distribution of business insurance in the UK market. They control over 90% of the market, which is probably the highest percentage in any country in the world. The figure could even be higher if we include large businesses who use brokers as advisers even though they place direct with insurers. The only sizable areas not dominated by commercial brokers are those controlled by specialist mutuals and micro-business which includes vans placed
