Although the Solvency II directive may not seem to directly affect brokers, it will provoke some basic structural changes to the insurance market as a whole. Bart Patrick explains why brokers need to pay close attention
To many brokers, on the surface, Solvency II is a development that is happening in isolation to the intermediary market. After navigating the huge swathe of regulation directly aimed at brokers, some may think now would be the time to rest easy. However, while the strict clauses may not appear to affect brokers directly, Solvency II will engender some long-term, fundamental changes to the market, which may cause them concern.
