Winterthur has given confirmation of its acquisition of NIG Skandia, as exclusively revealed in Professional Broking (December, p1).
NIG will become an independent subsidiary of the Winterthur Group, but will work in "co-operation" with Churchill Insurance, the Swiss group's UK direct writer. The sale of NIG will create the tenth largest non-life UK group and the fifth largest private motor insurer in the UK.
NIG will continue to operate under its own identity, brand, management structure
