Direct Line Group posts growing profit
Insurer reveals rising profits and GWP, despite £49m discount rate hit.
Direct Line Group has posted a 9.5% rise in operating profit to £354.2m for the first half of 2017, compared to £323.6m in H1 2016.
According to its financial results, the business also achieved a 5% increase in gross written premium (GWP) to £1.7bn (H1 2016: 1.6bn).
Meanwhile its combined operating ratio improved slightly to 88.9%, compared to 89.6% in the first six months of 2016.
In addition, its pre-tax profit was also up, from £298.5m in the first half of 2016 to £341.4m this year.
