Database of fraudsters helps insurers
The IFB says its Insurance Fraud Register is proven beneficial and it will take over administration of Good Practice Guidelines.
The Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) said that users of the Insurance Fraud Register (IFR), an industry-wide database of known insurance fraudsters, have seen benefits.
The IFR went live about a year ago and enables insurers to cross-check policyholders against the database's records, making it possible to take action if a fraudster is identified.
According to the IFB, the intention is to detect and punish fraudsters working in conjunction with the City of London Police's Insurance Fraud Enforcement
