Aviva finds 19% increase in fraud
Provider cites organised gangs as being behind fraudulent claims.
Aviva has revealed that it detected over £110m of insurance fraud in 2013 - a 19% increase compared with 2012.
The provider has calculated that it discovered over 45 fraudulent claims per day, worth more than a total of £300,000.
According to the insurer, fraudulent claims came from a range of sources, ranging from people exaggerating genuine claims or injuries to entirely fictitious claims and accidents.
Aviva also argued that insurance fraud is increasingly being carried out by third parties
