Insurance fraud on rise
Nine in every 10,000 insurance applications are fraudulent, say Experian
Insurance fraud has increased in Q3, according to the first Experian Fraud Index.
According to data from National Hunter and Insurance Hunter - fraud prevention databases operated by Experian on behalf of members - approximately 16 in every 10,000 applications received by automotive finance, credit card, insurance, loan and mortgage providers in Q3 2009 were identified as fraudulent. This was 3.5% percent more than in the same period in 2008, and 3.6% percent more than in Q2 2009.
