Brokers face further attacks from direct motor insurers over the issue of adjustment fees charged in addition to premiums, a new report from Defaqto warns. Defaqto has noted that brokers often need to charge adjustment fees as in a tight market with commissions being squeezed they struggle to cover their overheads. But direct writers generally do not charge adjustment fees, Defaqto warns, as they can absorb the costs because of the volume of business they are writing.
