On the road to ruin?

The Government has spent millions on campaigns to address drink-driving, speeding and road-tax evasion, but very little has been done to combat the hidden menace of uninsured driving - until now. James Salmon reports

Uninsured driving rocketed up the political agenda when, in August last year the Government appointed Professor David Greenaway to lead a review to consider ways to tackle the problem. This culminated in last year's Greenaway Report, which recommended a series of hard-hitting preventative and punitive measures, such as the confiscation of vehicles, designed to hit uninsured drivers where it hurt. These measures were broadly welcomed by the industry and the Government, with the recent Road Safety

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
