Crashing and burning

Interest in credit insurance inevitably takes a jump when the failure of high-profile companies or brands hit the headlines. Bob Lilley says one benefit of the major impact this has is that it makes other large companies aware of the need for good quality credit insurance

At a time when in rapid succession we have seen the demise of MG Rover, Courts, Bewise and Golden Wonder the picture should be rosy for credit insurers. Now we have the ongoing fall-out at off licence group Unwins - which collapsed with debts in excess of £42m - to keep the dangers of customer default firmly within the mind of the prudent businessman.
