Having written about insurance for more than 25 years, I have learned that many things related to the sector are cyclical.

Hard market and soft market. Consolidated personal/commercial teams within insurers versus separate commercial and personal teams within insurers.

Splitting out mid-corporate and SME commercial and then bringing them back together. In-house or outsourcing. Even things like the popularity of managing general agents seems to go through purple patches and then periods when they are less popular.
