The General Insurance Standards Council has recommended that six of
its 16 board members should come from the intermediary market.


The recommendation is made in the GISC's governance consultation document,
published in December 2000. The council proposes having 16 board members
made up of six intermediaries, four insurers, five independent
representatives, and one chief executive. The document rejects, for the
present time, the National Consumer Council's model for self regulation,
which recommends
