The Chartered Insurance Institute has warned the Financial Services
Authority about the dangers of linking designations with qualifications in
its review of approved examinations, which starts next month. CII director
general Dr Sandy Scott said: "We must separate the issue of designation
from qualifications gained by examination. The former tend to be sold by
bodies that do not provide the examination, hence are meaningless."
