While advances in technology mean that more people are now working from home, the market for homeworking insurance is still quite limited. Shona Cronin explains.

The homeworking insurance market is still very much a niche
sector.


According to a report conducted by The Henley Centre, consumer
consultancy, 30% of the workforce are homeworkers - a figure which, on the
surface, points to a thriving business for insurers and brokers - however,
in reality, only 9% of the total workforce work from home on a full-time
basis. The Henley Centre predicts that by 2006, 31.5% of the population
will be working from home, 11.5% of whom will be home less than 1-2 days a
wee
