What about ad hoc information?
Q: I run a small brokerage and have a packaged system from a major broker software vendor. I get some standard reports but how can I get ad hoc information from my system?
A: Whatever broker system you are currently using, it probablyalready allows you to run some reports so that you can get to crucial
business data.
If your existing reports don't give you all you need, a call to your
system supplier will help you find out what additional data querying
facilities are on offer.
If you prefer to be able to get at the data yourself, it is usually
possible to extract it into Excel or Access using a query tool such as
Microsoft Query. But be warned - before you can
