Agency transfers: keep your eye on the ball.

Q We are about to buy a broker and would like some clarification on the issue of agencies.

I cannot stress how important it is for all agency agreements with
insurance companies to be transferred into the purchaser's name.


Consent from the insurance company to make the transfer must be made to
avoid potential problems in the future. Contact with the insurance company
pre-sale also allows the purchaser to check there are no problems on the
account about to be transferred, including whether the vendor's premium
payments are up to date.


Furthermore, if there is no insurance company consent
