The future of the Insurance Brokers' Registration Council is looking
ever more bleak, with Andrew Paddick, director general of the Institute of
Insurance Brokers, conceding he had to shut down the administration unit
on 30 April.

Eight members of staff - the majority at the unit - were made redundant in
what Mr Paddick described as a "very emotional" day. The IBRC was repealed
as of 30 April and there are currently no concrete plans for an IBRC mark
two.
