Royal & SunAlliance's UK Commercial Engineering Practice has been appointed by the DTI to monitor the standards and Health and Safety compliance of pressure equipment. This move follows the introduction of the EC Pressure Equipment Directive on the 29 November 1999.Compliance with the directive will be compulsory by 2002, with companies who fail to have their equipment assessed by a notified body being barred from selling products anywhere in Europe.
