The General Insurance Standards Council is to split its code of
practice into two, making a distinction between commercial and personal
lines.

Detailed in its rule book, published at the beginning of this month, the
Code For Private Customers explains the minimum service standards the
public should expect from companies and individuals selling insurance.

It is written in plain English. The commercial code covers largely the
same regulatory issues, but is written in more technical language.
