The General Insurance Standards Council is advising its members to continue to make reference to their membership in advertisements and communications with customers.

The Financial Services Authority has stated that, where such communications cannot be amended post-publication, they can remain in place without being in breach of FSA rules.

The rules state that a firm must take reasonable steps to ensure that communications are clear, fair and not misleading. Firms should ensure they meet the rules
