Chris Woodburn, the newly appointed chief executive of the General
Insurance Standards Council (GISC), has said that both broker and
intermediary status could co-exist under its proposed regulatory
control.


Mr Woodburn told PB: "The distinction between brokers and intermediaries
is not a regulatory matter. If brokers want specific recognition, there
could be some form of professional qualification devised by the CII
(Chartered Insurance Institute) that would enable them to keep their
broker title."
