Technological developments are advancing in leaps and bounds but brokers seem to be unable to keep up. It is time for brokers to invest in a supportive system, says Paul Saffer.

Every generation of brokers has heard of their impending demise, of
clients going direct for their insurance needs and cutting out the
middleman. The advent of the telephone, fax machine and teleconferencing
were all heralded as the end of the broker, or at least of the brokers'
heirs.


However, the broker has survived and, judging by the quality of their
suits and expense budgets, even thrived.


Many believe, however, that the role of the broker is under greater threat
