Broker documentation - from pillar to post

Are other brokers around the country experiencing the same problems that we are with post being sent to us by insurers?

In particular, we have noticed over the last few months that we have not been receiving renewals and mid-term documentation sent to us using a courier service. We spend a great deal of time chasing up documents, requesting duplicates and then very often requesting them again. We usually now make a special request that these be sent via Royal Mail, rather than by courier.

It seems to us that insurers are paying for a service that they are not getting, but it is brokers and our clients that suffer as a result.

Do the insurers monitor the service that they get? Are they bothered what service we get? Are they only interested in the cheapest option?

Are they aware that their staff are often having to do things twice or three times over, and pay two or three lots of postage for the same item?

It would be interesting to know whether this is a common picture among the broking community. From our point of view, we wish all insurers used the good old Royal Mail.
