Brokers offering travel insurance face new competition following the launch of a new off-the-shelf travel insurance product from Sainsbury's Bank. Pick n pay is available to families and couples and provides free cover for children travelling with two adults at £32.50. Initially available in selected supermarkets across the UK, Sainsbury's hopes to roll the product out nationwide later this year. Pick n pay offers four different insurance packages for up to 10 days of European travel, up to 17 days of European travel, annual European travel and annual worldwide travel insurance. Robert O'May, travel insurance manager of Sainsbury's Bank, said: "Our research reveals that the three most important factors for people when purchasing travel insurance are convenience, quality and price. We believe our products meet all of these."
