Leadership is needed to steer us to safety

In choppy financial waters it's the job of business leaders to inspire staff with their optimism and sound management of risk. Without this, the doom and gloom is set to continue for a good deal longer, writes Trevor Smith

What makes a strong leader in 2008? Throughout history leadership has evolved through many political, military and cultural styles, to name a few. In the 1970s and 1980s, the financial services sector was recognised for having leaders who managed effectively by maintaining the status quo, with good processes in place. But have we developed the leaders to get us through today's testing times?
