Policies fall for Direct Line

But profits increase as brand commits to UK general insurance.

The number of policies in force for Direct Line Group (DLG) fell for the first six months of 2015 according to its half year results.

Policies in force dropped to 16.1m down from 16.4m in the same period last year. However, despite this drop in custom GWP was broadly steady coming it a just over £1.55bn, edging the £1.54bn posted in 2014.

Profits also grew with operating profit on ongoing operations increasing to £335.8m (H1 2014: £235.7m) and profit after tax for ongoing operations hitting £252
