Aon reports 2% profit slip

Aon saw its profits creep down by 2% for the second quarter of 2013 to $241m (£156.4m), compared to the $246m posted for the same period last year.

However, the broking giant's total revenue edged up to $2.9bn for the three months to 30 June 2013, a marginal increase on the $2.8bn recorded for Q2 2012.

Aon attributed this 3% revenue rise to an identical increase in organic revenue, as well as a 1% rise in commissions and fees resulting from acquisitions.

Meanwhile, total operating expenses rose by 4% to $2.5bn compared to the previous year's quarter which was $2.4bn.
