Poor personalised service biggest scheme gripe for brokers

A lack of underwriting flexibility, a slow response to queries and poor access to decision makers were the major frustrations cited by brokers when dealing with insurers over schemes, a survey released today reported.

Almost 30% of brokers in each instance said these factors were the biggest annoyance, according to MMA's independent broker schemes survey.

Less than 1% said premium increases were a source of irritation. It also found that just 4% of brokers use social media to market schemes with 41% preferring to work with trade associations.

Some 31% use cold calling methods with 41% choosing to use hard copy flyers and e-mail marketing.
