Subsidence claims could flood in during dry spell
With rainfall at its lowest since 1964, it is likely that there could be a rise in subsidence claims, according to Cunningham Lindsey’s latest Subsidence Surge Briefing.
Over the last three years subsidence claims have averaged 30,000 based on figures published by the Assiciation of British Insurers.
Concerns about a potential rise in claims this year come from information supplied by independent weather forecaster, Positive Weather Solutions (PWS) saying this summer could be 27% drier than average in the South East and East Anglia and statistics from the Met Office, recording UK rainfall in the first five months of 2010 at their lowest levels since 1964.
