At least 75% of London Market brokers - in the main medium and smaller sized firms - are using IT systems that are not up to regulatory standards; are awkward to use or just plain inefficient.

This is according to David Smith, managing director of London insurance software specialists Sequel. Mr Smith believes brokers' inadequate systems leave them at risk when it comes to compliance and make them increasingly less competitive in the market.

"Brokers have not traditionally seen IT as a priority
