The BGL Group has been ranked as one of the largest mid-market private companies in the UK in the HSBC Top Track 250 league table. BGL was 54 places higher than its previous year ranking at 175. The position was based on £212m in sales during the 2006-2007 financial year, allowing it to top Manchester United Football Club, McLaren and Harvey Nichols. The combined 250 companies on the 2008 list generated total sales of £69bn. They employ over 477,000 staff - about 5% of GDP and 1.5% of the UK
