Heath Lambert Consulting launches new online annuity quotation service

Although consumers have the right to ‘shop around’ to find the best annuity provider to pay their pension income, only one in three investors actually do this.

The technical term used for shopping around is the Open Market Option (OMO). However despite the availability of an OMO at retirement, most people are either unaware of it or do not understand what it means, and subsequently have a natural inclination to remain with their current pension provider.

Some annuity providers will pay a higher income if clients have certain medical conditions as statistics show that people with specified health conditions have a shorter than average life expectancy
