Reportage: What's on the cards for reform?
As the insurance industry waits for the Ministry of Justice reforms to be put into practice, Simon Burley considers whether the intended claims solution will indeed be quicker, simpler and cheaper
During 2008 and 2009, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) reforms were widely discussed and it is probably fair to say, from the insurer/defendant side of the fence, there was general disappointment when the final announcements were made. The focus of the reforms was on motor claims and the earlier promises to look at employers' liability (EL) and public liability (PL) claims appeared to be lost in the final deliberations.
The reforms have not yet been introduced but are due to be implemented midway
