Erimus lifts lid on Gallagher deal

Managing director Lee Elgie said Erimus had not planned to sell the business ahead of its deal with Gallagher which was announced earlier this week.

Elgie told Insurance Age: “We were never short of offers but it has never been our intention to sell. What emerged was we really liked the people at Gallagher. The discussions started off-market.”

Elgie added that the Teesside-based broker decided to sell to Gallagher thanks to the “synergies between the businesses”.

“When we considered the wellbeing of our staff and clients it felt like the perfect fit,” he said.
