How safe is it to download software from the internet?
Q. I recently received some software from an IT firm via email. Is it OK to install programs received via email or from the internet?
It is definitely wise to be cautious about downloading software sent as an attachment to an email, as it may not be from whom it seems.
In fact, this is often how viruses get spread. A reputable IT firm, such as Microsoft for example, would never send out a program via email - it would instead send a link, taking you to the page on its website from where the file can be downloaded.
Downloading programs over the internet can be a good idea as it can offer low-cost or even free software. However
