AA Insurance is to create almost 200 jobs to meet growing demandwithin its call centres in Newcastle and Cardiff.
This move follows the AA's decision to close its network of 142 shops by
July 1999, in response to a shift in popularity towards selling insurance
over the phone. During 1998, AA Insurance handled over seven million calls
for new business, renewals, changes to policies and enquiries. This number
is expected to rise by one million in 1999.
