London-based broker Jardine Lloyd Thompson announced a half-year underlying profit before tax for the six month period to 30 June of £51.1m. Fees and commissions rose to £244.7m and overall pre-tax profit rose 63.3% to £76.6m. Chief executive Dominic Burke warned that the second half of the year was likely to be affected by the deteriorating US market but said he remained confident that JLT would improve on 2006.
