Swiss Re's recent market survey finds that brokers are still holding their own, despite unsettling industry changes, says Tim Collison.

This year's Swiss Re report on the non-life market should prove a
significant boost to the broking community. According to the 1999
Insurance Report, in these uncertain times of Internet selling, mass
consolidation within the industry, and competitive threats from
non-traditional providers and direct writers, brokers and intermediaries
are still holding their own in the personal lines market.


In the motor market, the high level of churning experienced in the early
1990s appears to be easing off
