The Association of British Insurers is preparing its members for
changes to European e-commerce legislation, expected to be recommended by
the Commission in November.


The association held an internet forum on 26 September in which Simon
Gentry, ABI head of European affairs, gave a status report on European
directives in the area.


"The Commission introduced a framework directive on e-commerce from which
insurance was excluded, meaning that at the moment we can't really use the
net to sell policies
