An electronic system designed to settle some travel insurance claims immediately is being developed by Fortis. Rob Smale, Fortis' claims director, said the technology will be operational by the end of Q1 2008 and provides claims handlers with access to databases in real-time so claims like flight cancellations can be settled quicker, lowering costs and keeping the broker competitively priced.
