Chartwell Re has sold Shead Motor Policies (syndicate 866) and itsservice company, Archer Personal Lines, to Cox Insurance Holdings for
£8.75m.
The deal - which took many in the Lloyd's market by surprise - is still
subject to regulatory approval, but is expected to be finalised in the
next month or so.
Under the agreement, Shead will be integrated into Cox's motor syndicate
Equity Red Star, making Equity by far the largest motor syndicate in the
market. Shead policyholders will be offered renewals
