The Ward Evans Group is to be the title sponsor for the Ward Evans
Atlantic Rowing Challenge 2001 - the world's longest rowing race, which
involves 50 teams of two rowing 3000 miles from Tenerife to Barbados.

Sir Chay Blyth, who rowed the North Atlantic in 1996, launched the Ward
Evans sponsorship with Mike Kenney, chief executive of the group, by
rowing the prototype boat around the Needles on the Isle of Wight. The
projected total cost to take part in the race will be about £50,000 per
team
