Software giant Misys is set to exit the UK general insurance business after 26 years. Misys started its GI operation in 1979, but the company has decided to cash in and focus on its core operation of providing technology for banking and healthcare.

The announcement was made on 3 November and a further announcement, according to a Misys spokesperson, is not expected before the interim results due in January.
