Lloyd's group Limit has acquired Torch motor insurer for £10m. Themove follows months of speculation regarding a possible sale of the
insurer which has failed to perform profitably in recent months.
The acquisition will result in the merger of Torch's syndicate 877, Bates
Cunningham, with Limit's motor syndicate 980, Ensign, for the 2001
account.
John Neal, active underwriter of Ensign, will assume the role of active
underwriter for syndicate 877.
Both syndicates derive the majority of their income
