Harrogate-based consolidator Smart & Cook is understood to have signed off the first of a trio of acquisitions after acquiring the general insurance division of Berry Birch & Noble for an undisclosed sum.

According to a source close to the deals, BBN will add around £4m in revenue; two further acquisitions, due to be finalised in the first half, will bring an additional £2.5m and £1.5m respectively. One of the deals is expected to involve a company closer to S&C's home in the north-west, while
